->I chose this name because of the way this wonderful flower breeds. As best as I can tell, it will go with almost anything and produce almost every color, so it can become all things to those who use it.
->from I Corinthians 9:19-23 – where Peter the Apostle is speaking: “Though I am free and belong to no man, I make myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible. To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law. CLOUD RIDER is:
->I have always been fascinated by clouds. As a child I would lie on my back in the grass and watch them turn into different shapes. Throughout my life, they have often stopped me in my tracks, as I marveled at the uniqueness of each “picture” they made. At Springwood, sitting up so high on a hill, it feels like one can almost touch them – and thereby almost touch the hand of God. The Bible is full of cloud imagery. One of my favorites is that of God or Jesus riding on a cloud. For example:
->From Isaiah 19:1 [ A Prophecy Against Egypt ] “See, the LORD rides on a swift cloud and is coming to Egypt. The idols of Egypt tremble before him, and the hearts of the Egyptians melt with fear.” Or from Psalm 104: 3 He makes the clouds his chariot and rides on the wings of the wind. Or Mark 14:62: “And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.”

COIN OF THE REALM is:
->from Mark 12:34-44 - the story of the widow who dropped two mites – the smallest coin of the realm when Jesus was alive - into the collection box. Jesus says to his disciples: “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the treasury. For all of them have contributed out of their abundance; but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.”

CROWN OF SPLENDOR is:
->from Iasiah 62:3 – “You will be a crown of splendor in the Lord’s hand, a royal diadem in the hand of your God.”

CRYING IN THE WILDERNESS is:
->- from Matthew 3:1-3, – referring to John the Baptist who was preaching in the wilderness of Judea:
“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.” His ministry was prophesied by the prophet Isaiah:

CUP OF COLD WATER is:

->Shortly after we moved to Springwood our well stopped working. I thought about all the women and children in the third world who have to walk hours to get water, most of which is unsafe to drink. ->from Acts 9:3 where Saul/Paul was on the road to Damascus to get the people’s cooperation to persecute believers, when he was blinded by the light of the living Christ who asked why he was persecuting Him.

->- God has often used dreams to communicate with people. Genesis describes Jacob’s dream of a ladder reaching to heaven,
where God promised that Abraham’s blessing would be carried on through him. Joseph had numerous dreams about what his future would hold,
e.g. that one day his brothers would bow down to him. In 1 Kings 3:5, God asked Solomon in a dream: “Ask me what you wish me to give you.” Solomon chose wisdom.

EL SHADDAI is:

->This flower is both ugly and pretty – like the end of the age – which will be ugly, but wonderful because it signals the return of Christ.

ENTWINED IN THE VINE is:

->one of the cities that became a center of evangelism for the early Church. EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW is:

-> from 1 Peter 5: 8-9 “…Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith.” And 2 Timothy 2:22 about fleeing from temptation. In other words, depending on the situation, when facing evil or temptation, we should respond by either fighting it or running away as fast as we can. - The fight-or-flight response is a physiological reaction that occurs in response to a perceived harmful event, attack, or threat to survival. - I got the idea for this name both from the look of the flower (bold with a form like wings), and from the names of its parents (Alpha and Omega and Flying Purple People Eater)

-> from the book of Revelation, which describes the world war that will engulf the Middle East at the end of the age. There is a final battle between good and evil. Christ returns, annihilates the armies, and throws the devil into the lake of fire. -> The colors in this flower remind me of those seen in a desert country like Egypt.

-> The floodgates of Heaven can be opened to pour out blessings beyond measure as described in Malachi 3:10, or to pour out wrath as in Genesis 7:11 (the great flood).

FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND is:
->from a familiar story about a person who dreams of walking along the beach with God and sees two sets of footprints in the sand except during the hard times of life, when there is only one set. God explains that “those are the times I carried you.”
